“God and the devil are fighting and the battlefield is the heart of man” Dmitri – The Brothers Karamazov by Fedor Dostoevsky
The Bhagavad Gita instructs that every day we go into battle with ourselves, with our lower nature and tendencies.
This part of us wants pleasure, comfort, ease and expediency and it draw us away from the highest vision of ourselves.
Our dark side, our shadow, must be integrated. The divided human is a danger to themselves and others.
Our focus should be on how to transform the darkness within our own heart, on living in accordance with our higher nature and ensuring we are not taken off course by the pull our lower tendencies.
We will succeed in this endeavour by doing all the things we know we should do, that propel us forward, and not doing all the things we know we shouldn’t, that hold us back.
We will succeed by staying true to our values, principles, purpose and ideals and living them out.
Each morning, take a moment to remind yourself of who you want to be and how you want to live and conduct yourself.
And then resolve to win the inner battle today.
